FAMILIES

“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”

-Mary Oliver

Family can mean a lot of things.

It might be grandparents gathered at the cabin, the hazy days of a newborn, toddlers insisting on dressing themselves, your dog jumping into the frame, or all of you piled onto a boat at golden hour.

It might be at home. It might be at the beach. It might be a walk, a dock jump or a quick stop for ice cream if that’s your thing.

However your family looks-big, small, loud, quiet, affectionate or a little reserved-I’m here for the real version of it.

The connection. The chaos. The personalities. The way you actually are together.

YOUR LIFE IS AMAZING. LET ME SHOW YOU.

THE EXPERIENCE

Family sessions with me are relaxed, playful, and rooted in real connection. I like to think our time together is like hanging out with a friend who happens to be taking a lot of pictures…and full disclosure, I will try to hug you before I pack up and go.  I’m not here to make everyone sit still and smile at the camera-I’m here for the in-between stuff: the messy faces, the mismatched socks, the clinging hands, the quiet connections that say everything.

We’ll choose a location that feels like you-your home, your cabin, a forest trail-and build the session around how your family moves and interacts.

There’s no pressure. No expectation of perfection. Just space to be yourselves.

My goal is that you not only love your photos, but that the session itself feels like a good memory-one where you got to slow down, be present with your people, and maybe even have a little fun.

Your life is already full of beauty, chaos, connection, and love.

 FAQS

  • I live in West Vancouver, BC, Canada

  • The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and be yourselves.

Neutral, earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your connection.

For groups 3 or more, I suggest choosing 2-3 colours and have everyone wear something in a complimentary shade of that colour-even if it’s a scarf, hairband or sneakers.

Patterns are good, but if one or two choose to wear stripes or plaids, ideally the others will choose solids. Avoid big logos which can be distracting and dating.

I’m not really into matchy, match…but if that is your vibe, go for it.

I’m always happy to help you style your session-feel free to send me outfit options!

  • Wherever feels like you. That might be your home, your backyard, an afternoon on your boat, a favourite beach or forest walk. I’m also happy to suggest a location based on the look and feel you’re going for. All we need is good light, interesting backdrops, but most importantly, a place you can be yourselves.

  • If it's a sunny day, I usually recommend shooting during golden hour – the hour (or two) just after sunrise or before sunset – when the light is soft, warm and beautiful.

But if we are shooting at your home, mid-morning or early afternoon often works best when your space has the most natural light.  We can chat about what makes sense for your family’s schedule, especially if naps or mealtimes are in the mix.

  • It’s all good. I don’t expect perfect behaviour, nor do I judge-I actually welcome the chaos. I’ll follow their lead, keep things playful, and work with their energy to capture honest, joyful images. Some of the best moments happen in the wild in-betweens.

  • Yes!  These are some of my favourites.  They are quiet, tender and full of emotion – perfect for capturing something big.

I would suggest booking a maternity session between 28-34 weeks, when your bump is showing but you are still feeling relatively comfortable.  We can do this session at home and/or a location that is meaningful to you.

For newborn sessions, I take a lifestyle approach – no props, so stiff posing.  These sessions are usually done in your home within the first 2 weeks (but really, anytime works).  Think cozy snuggles, feeding, diaper changes, bathing and soaking in your new little human.

I work around your baby’s needs, take breaks as needed, and move slowly.  No rush, no pressure and definitely do not clean your house.  This should be an enjoyable experience, not a stressful on – you just need to show up as you are.  I promise: there is beauty in all of it.

  • We live in Vancouver so rain is inevitable. If we’ve planned an outdoor session and it’s an atmospheric river, we’ll likely reschedule. We can also pivot to find shelter under a bridge or pier, or keep it cozy with an at home session. That all said, moody skies and a little drizzle can be beautiful- so I’m always game to play it by ear.

  • I’ll send you a little sneak peek within 24 hours.  You’ll receive a curated online gallery of high-resolution, edited images within three weeks of your session, probably sooner.

  • Umm…absolutely! These sessions are such a beautiful way to celebrate multi-generational love. Just let me know in advance how many people will be attending so I can plan accordingly. There may be a small additional fee depending on the group.

  • Yes —, and I’m always up for an adventure! Travel within the Lower Mainland is included, and I’m happy to quote for travel outside that area. Just reach out and let’s chat details.

  • Yes!  While weddings and families are the heart of what I do, I also photograph branding sessions, events, headshots and also editorial sessions.  If you’re looking for images with story, mood, and soul – I’m in.  Whether it’s for a creative project, small business, or personal work, I love collaborating on thoughtful, visually rich shoots.

If you’re not sure whether your idea fits, just reach out – if it aligns with my style, I’d love to hear more.
